The future of the current Temotu provincial premier Nelson Menale is uncertain following claims his leadership style no longer serves the interests of the province.
His deputy Stanley Tehiahua has confirmed yesterday that his executive members plan to consult Menale to resign from the post as premier.
Deputy Premier Tehiahua said if he refuses to resign executive members will resign to elect a new government and to form the new executive this month to lead the province.
He further stated it is ridiculous to know that the national government has foot the bills for premier Menale to attend national reconciliation ceremony but he did not participate.
“His non-attendance was a total disgrace to his executive and to the people of the province,” Tehiahua said.
Senior member of Temotu provincial government and a former premier Fr Charles Brown Beu reiterated the same sentiments.
He said, people of Temotu province have desperate for a leadership that represents them well their interests to ensure services is trickling down to them.
“Currently, the style of leadership the current executive is leading the province lacks version and plan on how they could deliver services as expected by the people.
“There are pending issues that happen under the nose of the executive but they were complacent to do so, as such he must leave the post as premier.”
He said non-executive members were informed by the executive members that they no longer have confidence for him to lead as premier.
Temotu premier Menale said he is not aware of any plans to oust him but he confirmed he will observe the political situation in the coming days before he responds on whatever allegations against him.
