Guadalcanal Provincial (GP) government has announced the provision scholarship for interested students in the province.
Provincial Minister for Education Hon. Lazarus Rina on Thursday announced that the 2016 Provincial scholarship is now open for new applicants.
Application date opened on the 13th of July and will close on the 13th of August 2016, a period of month.
The Minister Rina stressed that it is within the provincial government’s priority area the development of human capital of Guadalcanal people.
The scholarship is particularly for prospective and intending students who are to undertake tertiary studies at the Solomon Islands National University (SINU).
The Hon Minister further explained that the recent manpower report done through the ‘ward profiling survey’ that there is demand for students qualified in varies fields of studies.
Therefore he stressed that applicants for the 2017 provincial scholarship are encouraged to apply for any program they wish to study at SINU in 2017.
“The scholarship therefore is open to all programs and courses offered by the University to GP students both pre-service & in-service applicants.”
The minister therefore encouraged the people of Guadalcanal to make use of this opportunity, call in at the provincial headquarters at Rita Eleven to collect information and applications forms available at the education office.
“Since the introduction of the provincial scholarship scheme, this year 2016 also witnessed the first batch of provincial sponsored students graduated, they returned and thanked the provincial government for the support in their studies.
“Today they are now useful citizens not only to their wards, province and families but the national as a whole.”
In another related important news, CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL TRAINING & EDUCATION CORP. (CITREC) graduates of Guadalcanal are hereby notified to call in at provincial headquarters at the department of Education to fill up Canadian job application forms and for interviews.
Hon Lazarus Rima Minister for education asked the graduates to take note of the following dates, Friday 15th July and Monday 18th July 2018, interview starts 8am in the morning. Students are further encouraged to prepare and bring along their resumes.
