A PRIVATE political consultant lashes out at national leaders to stop accusing each other using print media.
This follows an ongoing media debate by Nollen Leni and the Leader of the Independent Group Dr Sikua against Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare with their insinuations that he (Sogavare) was involved in the 2000 coup.
Brian Haga said that seeing our national leaders using print media to accuse each other is demeaning.
“Media is not an avenue to solve such issues of national attention.
“I don’t want to see these national leaders including former Politician Mr Leni to use print media to personally attack each other.
“There are proper ways that such differences and national issues could be solved.”
Meanwhile, he said that if our leaders want to use media then they should have used broadcast media (radio) like the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Cooperation (SIBC).
“SIBC (radio) is heard nationwide and if they want to talk about issues of national interest or the past unrest then use radio so that others who are in the provinces too can get what they are talking about.
“Using print media (Newspaper) will deny those in the rural communities who lack access to Newspapers get or know what is going on at the top level.”
Haga said that it’s too childish to see national leaders condemning each other in the public domain while there are appropriate possibilities that such issues could be addressed.
