The Tongan delegates meet up with the West Papuan group at the Mendana Hotel yesterday to reaffirm their ongoing support for the ULMWP full membership in MSG.
Minister for Finance and Planning of Tonga Aisaka Valu Eke is here for the Pacific Islands Development Forum (PIDF) 4th summit when he has the opportunity to meet up with members of the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP).
The meeting take less than 30 minutes of conversation between Eke and the West Papuan delegates, which shows Tonga’s continuous support for ULMWP full membership in the Melanesian family and their struggle for self-determination.
ULMWP are in Honiara for the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) meeting.
Speaking to the Solomon Star Secretary General to ULMWP Octovianus Mote expressed sincere appreciation for the Polynesian Kingdom of Tonga that always stand beside them in their plea for recognition in the pacific and struggle to secede from Indonesia.
He said Tonga is a leading Polynesian country that really puts their support behind ULMWP for an independent West Papua.
Beside that, Mote thanked all West Papuan activist in Solomon Islands, Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Vanuatu, Tonga, Tuvalu and the Micronesian countries for their ongoing support for ULMWP.
