FROM the twenty six new registered nurses that were recognised in a registration ceremony yesterday, nineteen of whom were female.
These nurses were probationers after completing their academic studies.
This means, they are now registered nurses after completing one year on probation.
To confirm their registration, a ceremony was held at the Wesley United Church, in Central Honiara.
The graduation program was organised by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services (MHMS) through the Solomon Islands Nursing Council.
Most of the nurses completed their studies at Atoifi, and Solomon Islands National University (SINU) schools of nursing.
The theme for the registration ceremony was, “Nurses – A force for Change: Improving Health Systems Resilience.”
Chairman of the Nursing Council, Michael Larui was the guest at the ceremony.
He spoke on the importance of the theme, where he told the nurses to be the forces for change in improving the health system resilience of the country.
The Solomon Star understands that, the increase in female nurses in the country is a normal trend over the past years till now.
