Chiefs and elders from the communities of Sagalu ward in North West Guadalcanal are calling on the traveling public to respect church services on Sundays, since loud music from vehicles always distract the church congregation.
This was revealed by the Northwest Guadalcanal Solomon Star stringer John Toki yesterday
He said the chiefs are very concern with the lack of respect of some drivers when heading down to the beach during the weekends.
He quoted the chief as saying “most of the churches on the island are situated beside the road, so during Sundays communities always held church services and other spiritual programs to worship and observe the day.
“Thus, those people who drive along the highway with loud music must respect church gatherings and try to keep their music low to avoid disturbing the church congregations,” he quoted the chiefs.
He added that same call goes out as well for those groups of motor cyclists that always ride down North West Guadalcanal highway with loud disturbing noise from their bikes.
Toki said the chief strongly reminded the public to have respect for the church, because continuous noise on Sundays along the road is hurting other people and is a form of insult to the Christian communities in the area.
