Forum Fisheries Agency’s (FFA) Judicial conference is underway at the FFA’s conference Centre in Honiara.
The three day meeting started on Monday and was expected to end on Wednesday.
Participants from nine pacific island countries attended the program, which is chaired by the Solomon Islands’ Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer.
The participants included legal officers from Tuvalu, Samoa, Tonga, Papua New Guinea (PNG), Vanuatu, Kiribati, Solomon Islands, Cook Islands and Nauru attending the program.
The meeting was hosted with the theme ‘Current and Emerging Technology.’
In his opening remarks Chief Justice Sir Albert Palmer acknowledged the presence of participating countries, citing the conference will ensure that judiciaries in the pacific region will properly apprised and equipped with relevant knowledge and skill in their judicial duties and functions when dealing with fisheries cases.
He also thanked FFA Director General Mr. James Movick and Dr. Manu Tupou-Roosen and Ms. Pole Atanraoi-Reim for their forsight and support to facilitate the program.
“I’m very pleased to co-host this Judicial Confrence with the Pacific Islands Forum Fisheries Agency on a subject, which I trust will be valuable to the work we do in terms of Current and Emerging Technologies,” he stressed.
