A Motion of no confidence to oust Premier Peter Chanel Ramoihia as the leader of Malaita provincial government is looming ahead of the full assembly meeting set for this month.
The Malaita provincial ruling government is expected to face the motion of no confidence this month when the full assembly meets on the 16th, 17th 18 and 19th of this month in Auki.
Provincial member of ward one Malcolm Moli has already submitted the motion to the provincial speaker to be tabled to oust the current premier.
Mr Moli is filing a motion against the Premier based on the alleged illegal borrowing by the province from the money lenders.
Mr. Moli who filed the motion told this paper in an interview that the premier and his executive have failed to explain to the people of Malaita why he encouraged such unlawful activity to go on in the province.
“The province has the legal means to borrow and why promote illegal activities.”
He said despite requests to the Premier and his executive to explain the borrowing, the Premier has failed to explain to the people of Malaita why he encouraged such unlawful activity to go on in the province.
Meanwhile, the Speaker of the Assembly did not want to accept the motion until legal advice are sought from the Attorney General office.
However some members of the Assembly its a delaying tactics to defeat the motion outside of the Assembly.
Attempts to reach the Speaker for comments on the matter were unsuccessful.
