THE file in relation to the death of the young man in custody in June this year is now with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP).
Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Ronald BeiTalasasa confirmed that his office received the file from the police on Thursday.
He said he would have to go through the file first.
“And if I am satisfied with it I will be making an application next week to the Honiara Magistrate’s Court to hear the death inquiry,” Mr Talasasa said.
Police Commissioner Frank Prendergast on Thursday had told media at the weekly police conference that the file was handed to the DPP.
“We are now looking forward to the hearing under the Death and Fire Act,” Mr Prendergast told the media.
The young late David Saemala died in police custody in June at the Central Watch House while being held under a warrant of arrest.
