THE Honiara City Council has issued a stop notice to Fangs Company’s development off Mataniko Bridge.
Honiara City Town and Country Planning Board chairperson and City Mayor Andrew Mua said the board issued the stop notice to make way for the Kukum Highway Project.
“We want the Kukum Highway Project to proceed without disturbance because work on the project could affect Fangs’ development,” Mr Mua said.
He said this is just a precautionary measure.
“We want to avoid unnecessary costs or demands if Fangs completed his development and then the Kukum Highway Project has to remove parts of Fangs’ development to make way for the highway project,” Mr Mua said.
Fangs Company owner James Fangs when asked about the council’s recent action refused to comment on the matter.
Council first issued a stop notice on the site when Fangs planned on building a mini hospital. The recent stop notice is the second issued by the council to Fangs.
