Victims of the Kwaibaita flood in East Malaita finally receive their food relief supplies after two months of waiting.
This was confirmed by the Provincial Member for ward 16 Finely Fiumae in an interview with this paper on Wednesday.
Mr Fiumae said the task of delivering the 2,500 rice bags was not easy especially when financial assistance is lacking.
He said the first lot of victims received their food supply on Monday this week while the remaining communities will receive their shares depending on the availability of transport.
He said with the little resource he has, step by step his team is trying its best to help the victims who lost their gardens in the flood.
“So far after the affected communities call for food relief supply, this is the very first help that the victims received.”
Its understood Solomon Islands Ports Authority (SIPA) has assisted with the rice stock.
