A FIRST year Solomon Islands student studying at the University of South Pacific (USP) Laucala Campus has gone missing for three days now in Suva, Fiji.
The missing student is Lloyd Maepeza Taloirau who is doing a Bachelor Degree in Marine Science.
He was last seen on Saturday at My Suva Park.
Reports reaching this paper said students and the Solomon Islands community in Suva are searching for the student since Monday.
Solomon Islands Student Association (SISA) president Walter Waneoroa posted a missing person’s notice on Monday on behalf of the student’s parent Dr Transform Agorau.
According the boy’s father, Lloyd left their Suva accommodation early on Saturday morning around 4am.
“Since then until now, the family still couldn____t locate where he is.
“From what I know, Lloyd and his younger brother were spending the night together with their dad who is currently in Suva when he decided to take off from their accommodation very early on Saturday morning,” Mr Waneoroa said.
The case is already reported to Fiji Police but Solomon Islanders residing in Suva are encouraged to look out for the missing student.
SISA president Mr Walter confirmed yesterday on SISA social media forum the boy is still at large.
“Unfortunately there is still no sighting of Lloyd as yet after almost three days now.
“I believe our Solomons community here in Suva is well aware of this issue.
“The police and USP security have been alerted today. I would encourage all of us to keep a look out for this boy within and around our respective residential areas.
“There are four groups of students now being deployed on search for Lloyd and they are already on the road,” he said yesterday.
The missing student’s dad Dr Agorau commends the Solomon Islands community in Suva for the search efforts to locate his son.
