Dear Editor – From my own observation, I’ve seen that USP Laucala Campus is one of the universities in the Pacific region that registered the highest number of student each year and mostly the regional students.
The current issue that many students are now facing is the problem in terms of accommodation.
For Solomon Islands students, obviously this one of the problem they encounter this year.
Even to the extent, some students ended up living too far from the main campus which they have to travel by two buses each day before arriving on campus.
Many do not want to stay off campus because of safety reasons.
From the past experiences many students belongings like Laptops, Mobile phones and even money have been stolen from where they have been residing.
Because of this, students prefer to live on Campus because it is more safer.
The University needs to look at this issue seriously and build more accommodations on campus that will cater for all regional students.
