A Nauru Select rugby union team will be touring Honiara next month, April 16.
The visiting team will play two friendly matches during their stay in Honiara.
This was confirmed by the Honiara Rugby Union Association president, Calwin Tengemoana on Wednesday.
Their first friendly match will be against a Honiara Select side comprising of players picked from various clubs in the HRUA league.
This match is set for April 19.
The second match will be against the 2016 HRUA Champions, Avaiki rugby club on April 20.
Both matches will be played at 2:30 respectively.
The venue for the two matches is yet to be confirmed.
Tengemoana said he will be meeting with the president of the Solomon Islands Ruby Union Federation (SIRUF), Frank Wickham today for the use of the Town Ground Rugby Stadium.
He said the other possible venue will be the Panatina Rugby pitch.
This visit is made possible by Tengemoana and the Nauru Rugby Union president last year.
Tengemoana said this is part of an initiative formed two years ago since he came into power as the HRUA president.
Last year a similar visit was made by the 2015 HRUA champions, Matangiki to Vanuatu where they played against the Vanuatu Rugby Union champions.
He said the idea of bringing the Nauru team is to help regain confidence to the rugby community in the Solomon Islands.
He revealed the visit by Nauru will be an annual event whereby the champions of the 2017 HRUA league will travel to Nauru to play.
Meanwhile the Honiara Select team is called to attend trainings starting today at the Town Ground Rugby field.
Avaiki will hold their trainings at the White River School field.
