Protest march against barbaric killing today
Six days on, and the police are yet to make any arrests over the killing of the Chinese couple, whose stabbed bodies were found inside their business premises Monday last week.
And while investigators are keeping their options open, sources say police hope of a breakthrough now lies with recordings from the installed CCTV camera.
Investigators are yet to view the camera’s recording because it was locked with password.
Only the deceased couple knew the password, so police have engaged IT personnel to unlock the camera recordings.
It’s believed the camera should have recordings of any individuals who may enter the building, located at Town Ground, on the night the couple were murdered.
The double-story LGZ Building, where the couple operate their shop, restaurant, bottle shop, and used as their home, is manned by a security guard during the day, but not at night.
Police are also waiting for the post mortem report.
As questions are being asked why no arrest after six days, a street march is being organised for today in protest of the killing.
Forum Solomon Islands International is organising the event this afternoon, which will start from the National Art Gallery to the LGZ Building.
Supervising Police Commissioner Juanita Matanga on Thursday urged anyone who has any information about this incident to come forward.
She said it would be helpful for people to come forward with information so that the police can find out what happened to the couple.
Meanwhile, business houses and close friends of the murdered couple have been stopping over to lay their wreaths and put condolences message in front of the LGZ building.
Former Prime Minister Gordon Darcy Lilo was amongst those who laid wreaths on Friday.
