MBUA Valley Community High School Sports master Joseph Wane has questioned the Honiara Football Association____s (HFA) decision to penalise his team after an incident in their game with Vura CHS in the HFA U-16 School League.
The incident resulted in a decision made by match officials of the match between these two schools at King George VI ground.
Wane told Star Sports, Tuesday that his team does not deserve to be at the receiving end of HFA decision.
“I would like to say the decision by the match officials was unfair. Our striker was cleared on goal in a one on one with Vura keeper and he was brought down by the keeper which prompted an initial straight red card from the match referee.
“What I and my coaching team what to get clarification from HFA is how the fourth official intervened to change the referee’s decision,” he said.
He said as a result of the decision, both his team supporters and players confronted the match officials with some heated words.
The match ended with a stalemate 0-0 as both teams’ hopes of advancing to the quarterfinals still hang in the balance.
According to a source within the HFA, both schools were penalised for the incident by losing points and fined $500.
Mbua Valley lost 3 valuable points for fielding an unregistered player while Vura was penalised for disrupting the game.
The source who does not want to be named said the decision was made on the basis of the regulations that govern the under16 school league.
According to HFA regulation 9.01 Each participating school shall be responsible for the behaviour of the members of its players, officials and spectators and 9.02.participating schools could face heavy fines, penalties or expulsions if their spectators bring the game into disrepute including loss of points if such actions are imitated or influenced by members players or officials.
The source stressed the concerned sports master had agreed to these regulations so he must follow suit.
“He must and should just follow regulations and respect official and the referees decision and report are final,” the source said.
Meanwhile, Vura CHS will play its final group match today against Selwyn College to determine the quarter finalists.
