The NOCSI National Selection and Justification Committee (NSJC) has warned national sports federations they can be left out of participating in the upcoming Mini Pacific Games in Vanuatu if they do not meet the requirements and expectation of the National Olympic Committee of Solomon Islands (NOCSI).
In a statement from the NSJC yesterday, NOCSI Vice-President (International Events), Brian Pongotapu said there are requirements which the NSJC will look at before a sport federation can send its athletes to participate.
“Sports Federations that failed to meet these requirements would risk their athletes’ participation in the Games,” he said.
These requirements were made known to most of the federations in the recently held meetings between the NSJC and the National Sports Federations.
He said the reason for this is to justify that athletes from these NFs are fully prepared to represent the country.
A meeting was held on Friday last week with the national sports federations on the preparation for the Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu in December.
Pongotapu thanked all the sports federations that attended the meeting on Friday and urged all NFs to attend their second meeting scheduled for this Friday May 26.
Each of these federations is required to send one or two representatives to attend the meeting.
Pongotapu strongly encouraged all invited sports federations to attend the meetings with the NOCSI and the National Selection and Justification Committee so as to avoid jeopardizing their athletes____ participation in the Pacific Mini Games.
