Three men facing the murder of an elderly person in North Guadalcanal early this month will be appearing in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court today.
This would be their first appearance in court after they were remanded in custody on the last occasion.
George Meloli, 35, Patrick Kennedy, 26 and 20 year-old Maison Okeni Hilly were jointly charged with one count of murder.
This relates to an allegation on an allegation on 5 May this year at Raupono village where accused attacked the 60 year-old deceased following an argument between them.
The deceased is Meloli’s uncle.
It was alleged that Meloli and his uncle were under the influence of liquor and went to Meloli’s house.
It was there at George’s house that an argument broke out between George, his uncle and the other two accused.
They allegedly started punching and assaulting each other and amidst that, the deceased fell on to the ground.
Meloli rushed his uncle to the Good Samaritan Hospital in at Tetere, East Guadalcanal in hope to save him but he however died there.
