Despite a courtesy call to the Ministry of Fisheries, calls to consider giving the blue boats to Renbel province is yet to be replied by the government and AG office, Rennell Bellona provincial Collin Singamoana says on Sunday.
“To date there is no response from the high authority regarding my call.
“I am awaiting a response,” Hon Singamoana said.
He said making the call based on valid supporting points.
“We have supporting documents with the call.
“The reef which most time, illegal fishing boats rob is part of our customary land.
“Historically this reef (Gotoa’kau) is part of the two islands,” he said.
“And also to help the Forum Fisheries Agency (FFA), Ministry of Fisheries and Police with monitoring the country’s EEZ,” Premier Singamoana adds.
Renbel executive has plans to boost fishery production.
He said he is expecting to hear response sometimes soon.
Meanwhile the case of the three captains of the blue boats is before the High Court.
All the crews have been deported back to Vietnam last month.
