Real Kakamora registered their first win of the 2017 Solomon Cup tournament with an impressive 8-0 against Renbel at the Lawson Tama Stadium, Tuesday.
Six goals in the first half and two more in the second half was more than enough for the Solomon Games champions to seal their first win of group B.
Real Kakamora head coach, George Fafale was impressed with the team’s performance however admitted they need to work more on their defense.
He said the win is a good start and they will now focus for their second match against Western Turtles on Saturday.
“I’m satisfied with the performance today and the first three points.
“Our win today is a good start but it is just the beginning and we need to work on our defense a little more.
“We look forward for the next game and will treat every game as the final,” he said.
Real Kakamora will play Western Turtles in their second group B match this weekend
Fafale said they have respect for Western Turtles who also proved to be a tough team.
Despite the high goal margin Fafale said Renbel was tough and played structured football.
Renbel had their chances but just could not find the right combination and the perfect finishing touches.
Renbel coach, Joel Konofilia said despite the defeat, they have taken a lot of positives from the match.
He added the team is new and was a bit affected by the last minute disqualification of four of their players prior to the competition.
“We lost to a very good side Kakamora but we have taken a lot of positives from that game.
“The result doesn’t matter very much, we have two games ahead and we just have to work hard to get points from those two games.
“Makira is a very good side, all credit to them; I think they do well in the rest of the tournament.
“We look forward to our next game, I have one week to prepare for our next game,” he said.
Group B matches will resume on Saturday.
