Chiefs of Dala North community have achieved a milestone after the community successfully launched its community bylaw over the weekend.
The chiefs have achieved a milestone in their effort to maintain law and order in their community after the community successfully launched it community by laws over the weekend.
Chief Mathias Basase of Dala community told Solomon Star in an interview after the lunching that his community really need this bylaws to help fight against criminal activities in the community.
Mr. Basase said now that the community has a population of over 2000 people, it is very challenging for the chiefs to monitor its youths where he said the bylaw launching has given the chiefs and the community a general community guideline.
He said the community by law is very important because it will help the community chiefs easily identify community members who involved in criminal activities.
“One area that we chiefs are working strong against is to put an end to the home brew production which we believes created lots of social problem for the youths and families in the community,” he said.
The launching of the Dala North Community Bylaw was witnessed by members of the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force RSIPF from Auki, Dala North Chiefs, church leaders and community members which consist of men, women, youths and children.
Copy of the community bylaw was officially handed over to the Auki police on Sunday afternoon during the launching.
