MARIST and Henderson Eels both won their respective matches on Sunday to make it a four horse race in the Telekom S-League title challenge.
Defending champion Marist edged Real Kakamora 2-0 in the opening match with veteran striker Abraham Iniga brace seals the three points.
Iniga scored a goal apiece in each half to make sure of the points.
When asked on the title challenge, Marist coach Juliano Schmeling said they are not worried about the gap.
“I think now we can’t focus too much on the gap between us and leaders Solomon Warriors.
“For us we need to focus on what we can do in our next game to get three points in every single game.
“We know at the moment Warriors are five points ahead but we need to do our job first,” the Brazilian said.
Schmeling told Star Sports Marist is buoyant they will end the TSL round one on a high.
Like Marist, debutants Henderson Eels overcome a gallant Malaita Kingz 2-1 in the main match yesterday.
The win moves them up to third place behind Marist and equal on 10 points with fourth place KOSSA.
Former Solomon Islands international Alick Maemae scored the winner in the second half.
Eels coach Chris Asipara said after match he was pleased with their campaign so far.
“I am really happy with the result since that was our objective going into the game.
“Malaita Kingz was really good but what matters is the three points,” he said.
Asipara stressed the win put them in a better position going into the remaining matches of round one.
“The result was a moral boost for us as we prepare for our next game.
“It will motivate our players to keep working hard in training.
“I hope we can give some better performances in our remaining games,” he added.
The TSL 2017/2018 season round one is near its ending as two games each left for eight participating clubs.
