Ousted Prime Minister (PM) Manasseh Sogavare says government was misled by people brought in by the United Democratic Party (UDP) on the issue of Skyline and Nazar Gold.
Sogavare revealed this on the floor of parliament when the question was raised to him by the members from the Parliamentary Opposition and Independent group.
Ousted PM said government was misled by people brought in by UDP who came with the foreigners into Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to convince government about the promises from the two controversial companies.
Nazar Gold promised government to rebuild Kilufi hospital and build a five star hotel somewhere at the coast of Town Ground area and Skyline Group of Companies promised government to build homes for public servants.
These two firms were later identified to be scam companies with no money brought into the country.
Ousted PM told parliament that they later went over to Fiji to prove whether Skyline exist there but only to their surprise, only a sign board that bears the name of the company was erected on the roadside.
Furthermore, Sogavare said Nazar Gold came and rented his house at Lunga, East Honiara but they never paid up their rentals so he told the company to vacate his residence.
He said government was misled on these two companies thus they have sent them back to their countries and vowed not to set foot back on our shores.
But UDP slam’s Sogavare’s claim saying their party members brought in Skyline and Naza to meet up with the government.
UDP claimed that the two companies was brought in by close associates of the PM but not UDP members as he claimed.
UDP said that PM personally benefits out from these two scam companies.
Mover of the motion Dr Derek Sikua in his concluding response named Rence Sore and Patterson Oti for their alleged involvement in the deal.
