Saint Nicholas form seven student, John Kela has topped the Pacific Technical and Advanced Education 2017 Foundation Economic Studies award.
The award was under the University of South Pacific (USP), an award to recognize the top foundation students at the USP.
The award was presented at the Pacific Technical and Further Education (Pacific TAFE) foundation and the award ceremony on 15 December 2017, which was held at Laucala campus.
Mr. Kela was unable to attend the December Ceremony but he received his award on Wednesday from the USP Honiara Campus Director Dr Patricia Rodie.
In congratulating Mr. Kela, Dr Rodie said that his achievement, the first of its kind at the Honiara Campus, and was exceptionally outstanding.
“Kela was extremely outstanding, he had a Great Point Average (GPA) 4, and was nominated by the USP as the top foundation economic students on the year 2017 award.”
Mr. Kela said that he was humbled to receive the award.
“I expected that award, especially in economics, the subject I love and I’m comfortable doing.”
Dr. Rodie said that whilst Honiara campus is relatively small and slowly developing, it has proven to have produced some of the potentially outstanding students.
USP Honiara Campus has started its 2018 academic year.
Pacific TAFE can deliver qualifications which are accredited with Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and have global recognition by adding qualifications to its scope of registration.
