DIRECTOR of the Kukum Police Traffic Unit Chief Sergeant Brian Surimalefo has called on all motorists to be patient during this bad weather season.
Sergeant Surimalefo said as the country continues to experience bad weather, drivers need to be patient and take precautionary measures.
“The country is experiencing a low pressure system moving from the country towards New Caledonia, but precautionary measures must be taken during this time,” he said.
He pointed out the current bad weather had also caused damages to the road, creating many potholes.
“Therefore motorists should follow the traffic rules and be patient.
“To provide a safe road, every one must and need to work together and follow traffic regulations and construction signs/notices from the road constructors.”
Mr Surimalefo said at the moment most roads within the City have been badly damaged and slippery.
“There fore motorists have to bear in mind the message from the police where safety is important to everyone.”
Sergeant Surimalefo added, the traffic congestion will continue to affect the traveling public, so motorists must use the two lane drive way instead of three.
“The current heavy traffic jam is not only caused by the current work construction but the use of three lane drive way,” he said.
“If motorists use the two lane drive way, they can experience the traffic will flow.”
