BISHOP Koete Rural Training Centre (RTC) at Taroniara in Ngella, Central Province over the weekend took ownership of a newly installed wind mill project funded by New Zealand.
High Commissioner of New Zealand in the Solomon Islands, His Excellency Don Higgins was the guest of honour at the official launching program.
“New Zealand is not new to Solomon Islands, it is a long time friend of this country,” Mr Higgins said.
He added that he is happy with the project and hope it benefited the centre and its students.
“We will continue to support Solomon Islands with such project to benefit its people.”
Principal of the Centre Casper Kuria said that the windmill project has made changes so far to the lives of the students.
“Yes, lights that was produced by this project has caused an impact to the lives of the students here.
“We have seen that the students academic results have improved compared to the passing years.”
He said they believe this change happen because of lights that those students used to study at night.
“We would like to thank New Zealand government through Caritas for this project that really benefited us.”
Director of the Solomon Islands Association of vocational Rural Training Centre (SIAVRTC) Billy Mae said, that it was the result of hard work that this has happened.
“It was through working together that all these things were done properly.
“I want to thank the centre for their tireless efforts working hard to complete this project,” Mr Mae said.
Bishop Koete centre is operating under the Anglican Church of Melanesia (ACOM).
