The annual national volleyball championship is set for the long Easter weekend with $30,000.00 worth of cash prizes up for grabs.
President of the Solomon Islands Volleyball Federation (SIVF) Morris Maitaki confirmed this to Star Sports in a statement on Monday.
“The SIVF wish to inform all volleyball provincial teams and Honiara clubs we will be hosting our annual national volleyball championship during the Easter long weekend from the 30th March to 8th April 2018,” president Maitaki said.
He said SIVF is expecting a good number of teams to participate from provinces and Honiara clubs.
“We will restrict our registration teams to only 12 teams from the provinces and Honiara clubs, therefore we remind participating teams to get your team register now at NOCSI office.”
He also confirmed there are teams from Western, Choiseul and Renbel provinces already indicating their interest to be part of this year’s championship.
“The starting date will be on Friday afternoon at 2pm beginning with an opening ceremony and followed with few opening matches in the late afternoon.
He said the registration fee is $1,000.00 per team both male and female.
“The due date for the registration fee will be on Thursday the 29th March 2018.
“This is an open competition therefore we allow your team to enter more than one team.”
Meanwhile Maitaki said the venue for the championship is yet to be confirmed.
However they are eyeing Rove Playing field, Old G. Club and Town Ground Justice Court.
He added the once they secure the main venue they will then inform all teams vying to take part in this year’s championship.
