Father’s passionate plea to save daughter’s life
By CHARLES KADAMANA
THE father of a 13-year-old girl suspected with brain tumour on Thursday issued a passionate appeal for financial assistance to send his daughter for treatment in Fiji.
John Morosini Loveth made the appeal after doctors told him there’s no CT scan at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) to treat his daughter, Myrin Siarobo.
Currently the daughter is admitted at the Children’s ward with symptoms and signs of a brain tumour.
She was referred from Kilu’ufi Hospital with symptoms of fever, lethargy, neck stiffness, vomiting and headaches for two months.
Upon admission at the Pediatric Ward she became comatosed but has now regained her conscious level.
According to reference made by Dr Carol Titiulu, young Siarobo needs a special scan called CT scan to confirm the cause of her illness.
She said the CT scan is not available in the country but this type of investigation can be done in Fiji, Papua New Guinea, and Australia.
Unfortunately the hospital or Ministry of Health does not sponsor children to have investigation and treatment abroad.
This is where Mr Loveth issued an appeal to help his daughter to live a healthy and happy life like any other child.
He said his daughter’s health can be restored if she gets the much needed scan and treatment.
“I therefore would like to appeal to you to assist us financially.
“Your financial assistance in this time of our great need would be highly appreciated,” Mr Loveth said in his public appeal.
He said the total cost for them to travel to Fiji to undergo special scan is around $27,701.20.
