OFFICERS serving under the Royal Solomon Islands Police Force (RSIPF) have concluded four weeks of intensive training to prepare for next years national general election.
The Public Order Management (POM) and Operational Safety Training (OST) was conducted at the Rove Police headquarters.
Assistant Commissioner (AC) Corporate Support Simpson Pogeava said the training was aimed at qualifying the officers to become trainers to train other officers across the whole RSIPF.
“This is a solid foundation in preparation for the National General Election (NGE) in 2019.”
Mr Pogeava expressed delight for the successful outcome of the training although participants and instructors were exhausted after the training.
“Its a task well done. As result of your team work during the training, you are now can certify and qualify other officers in OST and POM training,” he applauded.
He explained that as part of the training, a demonstration was conducted at Hells Point to display what they learned during the four weeks.
“I encourage you to keep to the standard and implement what you learned during the four weeks training.
“I challenge you to make those who are under your command stay alert,” he continued.
AC Pogeava acknowledged the support rendered by the Solomon Island Police Development Program (SIPDP) to the RSIPF and also thanked the advisors and instructors for their tireless effort during the training.
The training, which was held from 4 to 22 June was attended by officers from the provinces and Honiara.
All the participants received certificates at the end of the training.
