MALAITA province assembly member (MPA) for ward 12 and provincial minister for local government and community development Alfred Wai says the recent opening of Manaoba airstrip is a pride for people in northern region of Malaita province and has benefited the people.
He stated this in a short interview with the Solomon Star in Auki last week.
He said Manaoba airstrip has provided a significant infrastructure to allow air transport service to northern region of Malaita.
“The opening of the airport is a dream come true for the people because the service has addressed much anticipated need for businesses and tourism activities in that region.”
He recently witnessed that flights to Manaoba are demanding, reliable and has eased the travelling needs of the people and business operators by linking Honiara to northern region of Malaita.
He said Manaoba airport is now starting to show positive impacts in term of service delivery to people not only in Malaita but the country as a whole.
“The impact of this airstrip has really benefited the rural people,” he said.
He thanked landowners, government and participating stakeholders for the understanding and commitment to open the Manaoba airstrip.
He appealed to all responsible stake holders to maintain the partnership and working together in providing air transportation service to the northern region of Malaita.
