Four senior physical planners from the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Survey have been suspended while under the investigation of the Ministry of Public Service (MPS).
Sources close to the ministry revealed this to Solomon Star on Wednesday.
According to our source, three senior officers were given their suspension letter early this week. The other officer received his letter yesterday the source added.
This paper upon receiving this information went on further and contacted the Commissioner of Lands (Acting) and Chief Technical Adviser Alan McNeil to verify the information.
Mr McNeil in an email told this paper that this matter is before the Public Service Commission.
“This is not a matter that I will comment on,” Mr McNeil told this paper in his respond via email yesterday.
When this paper seeks further clarification from the Public Service Commission (PSC) we were told that they will not provide information into matters they are investigating.
It is now believed that these senior lands officers will be under investigation.
But the reasons as to why they were suspended are still unknown.
The general public is aware that the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Survey have been criticised for how they handle the land issues in the country.
Organisations like Transparency Solomon Islands (TSI) and other Civil Organisation groups have been condemning the corruption activities in the Ministry.
But the Ministry in the past assured the country that they will put the ministry in order and clean up the mess within then ministry.
