The country will experience rain for the next few days due to a low trough over the country as a result of El Nino and the normal wet season for the country.
Director of Meteorology David Hiriasia revealed this on Tuesday.
Mr Hiriasia said currently an active trough is lying over the country so the weather will be unstable for the next few days.
He said there are two things present at the moment and will continue to cause this unstable weather.
“We are currently in the normal wet season for the country and at the same time experienced El Nino,” he said.
The normal wet season for Solomon Islands is from November to April, he explained.
“Because of that we will experience rain for the next few days,” he said.
He added they will issue strong warnings to people if there is anything like cyclone or heavy rain taking place along the way.
“At the moment there is nothing like cyclone except for rain that will continue for the next few days.
“But people must always be careful when it comes to unstable weather like this,” he said.
He explained El Nino is also present but it doesn’t mean that there is going to be no rain.
“The rain will continue at times but below normal,” he said.
