QBE Insurance Group in Solomon Islands has supported the Pikinini clinic at Mataniko in China Town through a major renovation work.
This is part of the company’s social corporate responsibility to give back to the local community.
To formally celebrate the successful completion of the project a formal handing over ceremony was held on Friday at the clinic.
Speaking during the ceremony was the QBE Country Manager for Solomon Islands Mypana Isaac said his team has helped to renovate the pharmacy and done partition work inside the clinic to ensure most of the department can do their work privately.
He explained QBE Insurance Group Solomon Islands team has been engaged in number of renovation project since 2011 and they have done more renovation projects in the country each year.
“We have done some renovation work at National Referral Hospital, Red Cross, Care Center, Save the Children, Disability center and Pikinini Clinic,” he said.
This year QBE Insurance Group has seen that the Pikinini clinic has met the criteria for them to assist and so their team has intervened to support the clinic because it has been serving most kids in Honiara, Mr Isaac said.
“As a country Manager for QBE Insurance Group in Solomon Islands I want to thank our boss in Australia for supporting our team in Honiara with materials and financially to support Pikinini clinic,” said Mr. Isaac.
Doctor for Pikinini Clinic Dr. Maxson Lifiagao thanked the QBE Insurance Group in Solomon Islands for their genuine support.
He said after the completion of the renovation work and partition project inside the clinic it much looks better than the previous state of the clinic.
“Following the partition work most departments in the clinics can now do their private diagnosing, treatment and counseling,” he said.
He further added QBE has been a blessing for the Pikinini Clinic because they want to apply for SIG but the process for the application will be limited therefore they count on QBE and the support is reliable and sufficient.
