The first meeting of the 11th Parliament is scheduled for tomorrow – Wednesday the 15th of May 2019.
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare wrote to His Excellency, Sir Frank Ofagioro Kabui the Governor General of Solomon Islands advising him of his decision to convene the first meeting on the above date.
This first meeting will convene with the taking of oaths by Members of Parliament, thereafter, with the election of Speaker and Deputy Speaker to the National Parliament of Solomon Islands.
Acting Clerk and staff of National Parliament have been informed by copy of the letter and the office of the Clerk has taken steps to notify all Members accordingly.
The National Parliament Office is now making preparations for the convening of this first meeting and nominations for Speaker and Deputy Speaker opened on Friday 10th May and will close at 4pm today – Tuesday 14th May.
The first meeting will commence at 10am.
