FRANCIS Sade, Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) for Sahalu Ward 2,is the newly elected Premier for Guadalcanal Province.
He was elected unopposed on Monday.
His nominators were Alfred Lini Siake, MPA for Valasi Ward and Amaziah Keith Rubo, MPA for Malango Ward.
The new premier is a former Development consultant and program manager at the Rural Development Program (RDP), based in Guadalcanal province.
Delivering his speech after the election yesterday, Premier Sade thanked MPAs for having trust in him to be their captain for the next four years.
‘’I feel very humbled to make this address and to take up the premiership post to lead our province in the next four years,” Sade said.
‘’I would like to thank MPAs for electing me to lead the province,” he added.
“I know the responsibility to take on this leadership role is great and would not be easy but with God all things are possible and through him we can be successful.
‘’I also understand that Guadalcanal Province is looking for a leader with integrity, quality that prioritizes its people, serve with diligence and attentive to the needs of its people.
‘’Let me assured colleagues, chiefs, women, youths, children and the people of Guadalcanal that I will do my utmost best to provide the kind of leadership that our people are seeking today.”
Sade also acknowledged the past leadership who have done many good deeds for the province.
‘’A lot have been achieved and we have seen that many positive developments are happening such as diplomatic relationship with Canada, Guangdong province of mainland china, Spain and other bilateral relationships.
‘’I would like to congratulate the newly elected provincial members and the three MPA’s that retained their seats.
‘’The last elections saw 90 per cent of the Provincial Assembly members are new and this means our people really want to see change in the leadership of this province.
‘’For those of you who retained your seats, I congratulate you on your second tenure of leadership.
“This shows that your people have confidence in your leadership and I encourage you to continue display those leadershipattributes,’’ Sade said.
Meanwhile, many Guadalcanal people congratulated Premier Sade on social media.
Sade is expected to announce his executive in coming days.
