A PERSON living with disability says he was angry and embarrassed by treatment he received from a female officer at the Ministry of Health in Honiara.
Edwin Kuba from East Guadalcanal told the Solomon Star he went to the Community-Based Rehabilitation (CBR) office last week to seek help.
“But when I approached the office, the lady at the reception shouted ‘where are you going kwaso man?”, Kuba said.
“I was embarrassed and angry at the same time because I don’t drink kwaso,” Kuba said.
“The lady should know I’m at her office to seek help,” he added.
“I was downhearted to have received such treatment from the office established to help people like me,” he said.
Kuba said he went there to ask for a shoe because the one he’s using is now torn.
“I have a problem with my legs, one side is long and the other side is short.
“The pair of shoes they provided me last time is now old and worn out. I need a new pair.”
He said officers working at the CBR office must treat people living with disability with respect and love.
