Bekabeka Adventist High School on Gatokae Island in East Marovo, Western province is set for more developments to improve its conducive learning environment for students.
School Principal Mrs Encie Dionie said Bekabeka AHS still gain its thrust in infrastructure developments.
During the F6 arts graduation ceremony last weekend, she announced that infrastructure developments for the school are still on progress.
Mrs Dionie said Bekabeka has come a long way in terms of development.
This year, some developments have been happening at the campus which is a facelift for the school.
Mrs. Dionie said this year the shoreline of Bekabeka has been cleared and landscaped by the Pacific Everest Lumber Limited.
The operation has enabled OBM and landing craft to drop school materials at the school’s door step.
For many years before the reign of Mrs. Dionie, the shoreline has been difficult for OBM and landing craft to land because of rocky stones and breaking waves from the sea.
“I would like to thank Pacific Everest Lumber Limited logging company for clearing and landscaping the shoreline with free of charge.”
Another boost in Bekabeka AHS developments is the new brand dining hall which is believed to be holding the capacity of about 500 students.
The dining hall was funded and built by a volunteer group.
Mrs Dionie said the dining hall will enable students to eat their meals on proper tables and chairs rather than disperse around the school’s compass.
“The time of sitting under the trees, houses, field and dormitories to have meals will soon be gone.”
The dining hall will be opened next year.
Mrs Dioni thanked Ray Eaton families and other volunteers who one way or the other support the erection of the new dining hall.
The school’s head also mentioned that Bekabeka has a new set up of library and donation of books from the volunteers.
She highlighted that the big development is yet to be convened next year and that is the building of two new dormitories to cater for the influx of students coming to Form one (1).
The two dormitories will be funded by the Solomon Islands Government (SIG) following the program of phasing out Grade Six (6) Exams.
However since this is a new and a big project adding to the outstanding maintenance and refurbishing at the school, she calls for assistance from communities, stakeholders, SDA Authority, volunteers to support the school on the big development for the school.
According to Mrs Dionie, these infrastructure developments will definitely transform the school’s magnificence.
