Former High Commissioner of Australia to Solomon Islands His Excellency Rodrick Brazier has paid his final courtesy call to the Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare on Tuesday morning.
After 3 years of serving in the country, H.E Brazier stated he was pleased with the state of the relationship between Australia and Solomon Islands and what the relationship has achieved for both countries, a statement from the Prime Minister Press Secretariat said.
Mr Brazier also stated that it is sad to leave a country that he has come to love over his time serving as High Commissioner but reaffirmed his comfort with the team that he will leave behind.
He also thanked Prime Minister Sogavare for the “stewardship” with the relationship and for his willingness to work in ways that is beneficial to both countries.
In response, Mr Sogavare offered his gratitude to Mr Brazier and to the government and people of Australia for their continued and longstanding relationship between both countries.
PM also took the opportunity to reflect on the support of Australia in restoring law and order in the country.
He also conveyed his well wishes to H.E Brazier and his family.
Prime Minister Sogavare then presented a farewell gift to the former High Commissioner as a token of appreciation and in exchange for a framed portrait of Prime Minister Sogavare and Prime Minister Scott Morrison and their wives during Mr Sogavare’s recent official visit to Australia.
