POLICE are continuing to ask for communities’ assistance in their “Operation Hunt-Man” to locate the two remaining prison escapees.
Acting Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau at the weekly commissioner’s conference on Thursday said public participation in this operation is required.
“The operation is still ongoing,” Mr Mangau told reporters.
Mr Mangau appealed to members of the public to come forward and work closely with police officers who are working hard in this operations to locate the two escapees.
“If any members of the public have any information, please come forward and provide those information to any nearest police or any police that resides close to you in your community.
“Public participation in this operation is required and I appeal to all general public both in Honiara and Malaita Province to must assist,” Mr Mangau added.
He said the Guadalcanal province must also assist in this operation by providing information to police.
“If you have information contact police and supply those information to police on either the Guadalcanal Province Police on 36200 or to contact the police communications on phone 23666.
Mr Mangau reminded the public that the two escapees are dangerous people who have allegedly involved in serious crimes.
“….so their presence in the communities are not safe for us in the communities.
Frank Firimolea, Dilo Faiga and Willie Olo had escaped from the Rove Correctional Centre on 15 December 2019.
Olo who is a convicted prisoner was recaptured in the LDA area behind Betikama , east of Honiara between 4am and 5am on January 5.
He is now back in prison, leaving Firimolea and Faiga who are both facing separate armed robbery charges still at large.
Olo who is serving a three-year jail term for an armed robbery incident that happened in Honiara last August is now also facing a fresh charge of escaping lawful custody.
