Malaita for Democracy (M4D) movement is calling on veteran journalist Alfred Sasako and his cronies to stop misleading the country about a reconciliation he claimed being proposed by Malaita Provincial Government with the national government.
The call came after an article which carried Sasako’s byline with the headline ‘The truth about reconciliation proposed by Malaita’ published in the Island Sun over the weekend.
M4D President Knoxley Atu told Solomon Star Auki the manner in which the article was written clearly shows a desperate attempt by Mr Sasako to create differences between Malaita Premier Daniel Suidani and Malaita Provincial Secretary Frederick Fa’abasua.
Mr. Atu said Sasako’s article lacks facts and should be ignored, as there is no such reconciliation request from the province as denied by Premier Suidani following the his first article on the subject.
M4D calls on the reporter to refrain from reporting such baseless story where it stated; “you can spin a liar a million times but will not make any sense.
“Sasako must refrain from such childish and ungrounded claims.
“M4D knows very well who Sasako is and his anti Malaita reporting since Suidani takes up the role as the Malaita premier.
“M4D also know of Sasako pro China and pro-government media campaign prior and after the China switch.
“As a Malaitan, Sasako should come forward and support his people and the provincial government rather than throwing unfounded claims in the media about the reconciliation that was never requested.
“Many respected and senior Malaitans are willing and already supporting the Malaita Provincial Government through their expertise because they want to see Malaita moving forward in development.
“It seems that Sasako is shouting all alone on this to impress his saviors.
“He is doing this to try and please his cronies which some of them are people who have brought this country to its knees,” Mr Atu said.
He said Malaita people will never back down and continues to live under oppression where he said it is time the voices of Malaitans be heard and its time Malaita should pursue its development aspirations as one people.
With that, M4D congratulates Premier Suidani and PS Faabasua for keeping up the good work in ensuring Malaita province achieve its development aspiration during their time in office.
He said M4D on-behalf of the ordinary Malaita citizens is in support of the current Malaita provincial government.
