Wini finished third in World Cup

SOLOMON Island weightlifting queen Jenly Wini Tegu finished third in the 2020 World Cup in the Women’s 59KG B competition in Rome, Italy.
According to reports Ms Wini lifted 75KG in the snatch before lifting a massive 102KG in the clean & jerk for a third place ranking in the Women’s 59KG B competition.
This event is recognized as a qualifying event for the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
The results from this competition will be tallied with five other events to rank the top 20 weightlifters who will automatically qualify for this year’s Games.
Wini is grateful to finish third in such a big sporting event, a big achievement after her injury.
“This is my first World Cup and I am competing after recovering from an injury but I am happy with the result.”
Jenly will return to Noumea this week.
She was accompanied by Coach and founder of the Oceania Weightlifting Institute, Paul Coffa.
