POLICE are now compiling their investigations into the missing vehicle at the Kukum Traffic Centre last December for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) review.
Acting Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau said this was after the police’s Professional Standard and Investigation (PSII) interviewed the suspended police officer.
“Our PSII actually interviewed the officer implicated in this incident,” Mr Mangau told reporters at commissioner’s weekly conference yesterday.
He said once the DPP has reviewed the evidence collected so far, the PSII will be looking at laying the appropriate charge recommended by the DPP.
“It is a tough and difficult investigation but our officers are progressing well in this investigation,” he added.
Mr Mangau said updates on this investigation will be provided after the file is reviewed by DPP.
The vehicle, a RAV 4 that was involved in an accident with an ambulance from the National Referral Hospital (NRH) at Kukum on 9 September 2019, it allegedly went missing last December.
Owners of the RAV 4 went to check on their vehicle on 25 December at the Kukum Traffic Centre compound only to discover it missing.
They asked the officers at the traffic centre of the whereabouts of their vehicle but no one seemed to know.
Following their complaint, an investigation has been carried out which resulted in an officer being suspended.
