MALAITA province has now identified a potential site for the proposed ‘All-Girls school’, says provincial Premier Daniel Suidani.
This is a proposal by the Malaita Alliance for Rural Advancement (MARA) government which was announced during the policy document launching in Auki a fortnight ago.
The proposed All-Girls School is aiming at providing more opportunities for Malaita girls through education.
This will uplift Malaita girls to be equal partners in driving the province forward.
Yesterday Premier Suidani and PARU officers visited a representative from Aimela tribe to discuss a potential site to accommodate the All-Girls School.
The Premier told Solomon Star Auki in an exclusive interview yesterday that they have identified a potential site.
“The province is arranging with the Aimela tribe to seal a deal to have the school established in their land.
“It’s time to walk the talk and get things done for the betterment of the province,” he said.
Meanwhile, a representative from the tribe said they accept genuine investment that will benefit the province and their tribe.
He said the Aimela land has accommodated much government development with the likes of Kilu’ufi, Aligegeo, and Aimela school.
The tribal representative welcomed the Premier and PARU officer yesterday where he told the paper that he was not expecting the Malaita Premier to show up at his home.
“I was shocked by the humbleness shown by the Premier and his team when they visit this morning (Sunday morning).”
The premier and his team had a discussion with the Aimela tribal leader before the tribal leader showed them around to some potential land for the proposed ALL Girls School.
