A MAN has been arrested on Wednesday following a stabbing incident at Foudiko in East Malaita on February 14.
Acting Police Commissioner Mostyn Mangau on Thursday said the suspect wounded two alleged victims following an issue of a boy and a girl relationship.
“….this suspect was arrested on Wednesday by police in Malaita,” Mr. Mangau told reporters at the commissioner’s weekly conference.
“This suspect was placed in custody and Malaita police will further deal with the investigation.”
He said police will be looking at the appropriate charge to lay against them and also look at making a remand application.
Mr Mangau explained that the suspect who is the father of the girl attacked the boy’s uncles who are the alleged victims in this matter.
Reporters were told that one of the alleged victims received a cut to his head while another received a cut on his left hand.
Mr. Mangau said the two alleged victims are in serious conditions and were brought to the National Referral Hospital (NRH).
The suspect was arrested by police in Malaita at Subobono in East Malaita on Wednesday.
The acting police chief also called on communities in Foudiko and Subobono to support the police in their investigation into this incident.
“….and if anyone has any information or any story in regards to this incident, please come forward and supply that information to the police,” he said.
