The Premier of Makira Ulawa Province Julian Maka’a has commended the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ugi/Ulawa William Bradford Marau for his push to get the national government to fund the building of the Ugi wharf at Selwyn Bay.
He said the MP and Minister of Lands, Housing and Survey needs commendation from the Makira Ulawa Provincial Government because the T-Shape Ugi wharf had been his initiative and that of the former MPA for Ugi Mr Davidson Rarumae.
Mr. Maka’a said his government appreciates the fact that Ugi wharf is built with state funds hence it is a national government project.
But the underpinning, he said are the people of Ugi will use the wharf to transport their goods to and from Honiara.
Mr. Maka’a said his government will continue to cooperate with Mr. Marau and the national government in its development efforts as had been stipulated in the recent Kira Kira communique between the Makira Ulawa Provincial Government, its leaders and members of the team from the Prime Minister’s Office and Cabinet.
