Communities in North West Guadalcanal have called on their Member of Parliament (MP) and responsible ministry to fix the Tomba bridge that has been damaged by heavy rain.
The communities are Tandai, Savalu, Savulei, and Tangarare.
The bridge was destroyed by the heavy rain on Wednesday the 1st of April.
Therefore communities from these wards who use normally use the Tomba bridge to travel to Honiara to sell their produces are affected and are calling for support.
“This morning people have to stop from the other side of the dug up bridge and carry their produces across the bridge on a timber,” said Northwest Guadalcanal Solomon Star Stringer John Toki.
“The people from these wards call upon the national government and their MP to come and assess the bridge and repair it.
“The road is a public road that is being used daily by everyone here in the province and even people from Honiara,” said Mr. Toki.
Mr. Toki said commuters and farmers are finding it hard to travel to Honiara and return.
