HONIARA Rugby Union Association (HRUA) acknowledges the sportsmanship behavior from both teams and rugby fans of the recently held grand finals of the HRUA 2020 league.
HRUA president, Brian Taupiri also thanked all participating teams and officials for making this year’s league a success despite a few issues faced during the course of the tournament.
“Congratulations to the finalists of both Division A and Grand Premier Division for completing the HRUA 2020 finals.
“You both have shown great performances and good sportsmanship by attaining 1st and 2nd position vice versa.
“To all teams competing in this season, thank you for your participation and yes you all have contributed to the success for our season this year and the development of rugby in our country,” he stated.
“We have come a long way through quite a few challenges but we manage to get through and deliver in the end, we have made mistakes that we can only improve next season and continue to work together for our next season,” he added.
He thanked the Solomon Islands Rugby Union Federation (SIRUF) for all the support rendered to HRUA adding HRUA looks forward to working together more closely in the future to achieve the one common goal, the betterment of rugby in the Solomon Islands.
Taupiri acknowledged the hard-working sports medicine team, Fa’amoana Topue, George Lui, and Philmon Campbell for the great work that protected players and maintains the standard of sports medicine in rugby.
He concluded by thanking the sponsors of HRUA League 2020, Solrice company, Solomon Ports, and Coral Seas Resort.
The date for the presentation of awards is yet to be finalized.
