Guadalcanal U16 fully prepared for Youth Cup
GUADALCANAL U16 football team is prepared to battle it out with other nine provincial U16 teams in the upcoming U16 Solomon Cup at the end of the month.
The young Hornets proved their preparedness after beating Henderson Eels U17 2-0 in their recent friendly match at the DC Park on Thursday.
According to Coach Jackson Namo, the team comprises of most of the previous Guadalcanal U14 side along with a few new players from other parts of Guadalcanal.
“The GFA U16 is ready to battle it out with other provincial teams in the upcoming Solomon Cup.
“The team consists of players selected from the last U14 championship, plus others from different place of Guadalcanal,” Namo stated.
Guadalcanal U16 team is the finalist of the previous U16 Championship and they are eyeing to battle it out again for this round’s Solomon Cup title.
Other provinces are reported to have also prepared their U16 teams and are all expected to arrive in Honiara next week before the U16 Solomon Cup tournament kicks off.
Information reaching Star Sports has stated that the team will be heading into camp on Monday 21st June 2021 for final preparation for the upcoming National Youth Solomon Cup that will start on Saturday 26th June 2021.
“We need both moral and financial support from all of you.
“Contact GFA office or Hon. Tobias at GP Office if you wish to support our team,” a statement from one team official said.
