‘With $40K boost for GP 2nd Appointed Day’
THE Member of Parliament (MP) for East Central Guadalcanal and Minister for Lands, Housing and Survey Ishmael Avui hands over a much needed support of $40,000 ahead of the Guadalcanal Province 2nd Appointed Day.
Avui handed over the cash to the Provincial Member and Chairman of the GP 2nd Appointed Day Committee Andrew Tahisihaka at the Guadalcanal Provincial headquarter yesterday.
When receiving the cash Tahisihaka thanked Avui and his constituency officers for the huge support towards the provincial event which will be hosted by Guadalcanal Premier and the people of Marau in the East Guadalcanal from 30th July to 2nd August.
The theme for this year’s event is ‘Inclusiveness and Sustainability: Harnessing opportunities through Township, Culture and Tourism Development’
He further stressed that the kind support from Avui and his constituency is a boost for the Committee as they prepare for the event.
“Your support really showed your commitment to our provincial government with the people your constituency.
“And we hope that through your support we will continue to promote Guadalcanal Province in terms of tourism, trade and culture and also the partnership development that we are working towards,” Tahisihaka said.
He also thanked Avui on behalf of the premier and his executive for the huge support to prepare for the event ahead.
“And we will make sure that we will be accountable for this money to be used for its intended purposes,” Tahisihaka assured Avui and his constituency officers yesterday.
Meanwhile, Avui in his reply told the organizing committee that his constituency office will continue to liaise with the committee.
“In terms of the movement of our people from their places to Marau, accommodations and food, I believe my officers will also step in to help put as we prepare for our 2nd Appointed Day,” Avui affirmed.
According to the Official Program for Guadalcanal Province 37TH Second Appointed Day, the event will involve a mini trade show spearhead by Tasimauri region.
Show casing their cultures and traditions, sports activities and contemporary music are some of the interesting activities line up for the weekend ahead of the official program.
The trade show will begin on Friday 30th July 2021 to Sunday 1st August with morning devotion.
And then Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare will deliver the keynote address as the Guest of Honor on the 2nd of August 2021.
