THE Democratic Coalition Government for Advancement (DCGA) has finally received a copy of the petition from the Malaitans in Honiara group on Friday.
Special Secretary to the Prime Minister (SSPM) Albert Kabui has confirmed that he had received the much awaited petition on behalf of the Prime Minister at the Office of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (OPMC).
Kabui said the petition from the Malaitans based in Honiara was formally handed over to him before the Prime Minister will have a look at it.
The Solomon Star understands that there were speculations that the petition had already been delivered to PMO but went missing.
Kabui in a press conference this week rubbished the speculations and confirmed that he only knew about the petition floating in the social media.
“I would like to thank the leaders who have come peacefully to hand in the petition I believe this is the best approach than rallying youths to do the protest,” Kabui said.
He further assured the group led by one of the country’s long-time activist Lawrence Makili that the petition will be handed over the leaders of the country for further deliberation.
“We must all respect the process and allow our leaders to deal with our issues,” he said.
Meanwhile, Makili also assured the government that Malaita Province is willing to dialogue with the government specifically on the issues raised in the petition.
According to Kabui the petition has six points.
